KINGSBURG, CHOWCHILLA TOP EAGLES–Dec. 2
At the first day of the Sierra Tournament, the Eagles faced off against Kingsburg and Chowchilla to be seeded for the next day’s play, Dec. 2.
In the first game, Kingsburg caught FC flat to score quickly and kept up the attack, winning 4-0.
Shortly after, FC suited up once again to play Chowchilla. The Eagles’ defense struggled as Chowchilla was also able to know in goal after goal to win 6-0.
Junior midfielder, Juan Ruelas, feels they played decent considering their team has only been practicing together for a few weeks.
“I think compared to the teams we played, we did OK because teams like Chowchilla and Kingsburg are good,” Ruelas said. “They’ve matured, I mean we didn’t lose any players from last year, but compared to them they’ve gone through every year together. They’e really big schools and have huge selections of players to choose from.”
FC will next play Clovis West’s JV, Dec. 3. Kevin Thao, ’13, says they have a good opportunity to capitalize on a win.
“I think tomorrow’s going to be easier because I think we have a pretty good chance of winning if we put our hearts and energy into it,” Thao said. “I mean, we can score because we had chances, but we need everybody to be talking and working together.”
The Eagles will next play Clovis West’s JV and Roosevelt’s JV, Dec. 3.
