TIGERS DEFEAT EAGLES 4-1–Feb. 7
The Eagles played the Tranquillity Tigers for the second time this season in a non-league match-up, Feb. 7.
FC struck early with a goal by junior JP Caprioglio, putting them up 1-0. They maintained their lead for a short while, but soon the Tigers mounted their own offensive attack to tie the game 1-1. Freshman Andrew Hindes says he was surprised they went up first and was unsure of how they lost their lead.
“I was thinking this was going to be a great game, we’ve got the lead and we’re going to win for sure,” Hindes said. “Normally, if they get the first goal we hang our head, but this time we got the first goal and then it slipped away for some reason.”
At half, the score remained 1-1, but Tranquillity came out quick, scoring another goal, 2-1. The Tigers continued to put pressure on FC’s defense as they made two more goals, winning 4-1.
Sophomore marking back, Bobby Christopher, also says he felt the game would turn out in their favor, but by scoring a goal he was satisfied with the result.
“I thought we were going to do better because the last time we played them we did good and our last game against Riverdale was good,” Christopher said. “But we did do better in a sense because we scored so I was happy with what we did.”
The Eagles will next host Caruthers for Senior Night, Feb. 10.
