Throughout the years, The Feather staff has introduced various additions to add viewership to their site. One of the popular features on the publication includes podcasts, which are entirely student-operated.
In total, The Feather currently displays four podcasts: senior Brooke Stobbe’s Where the Brooke Flows, senior Chandler Vargas’s VargasSpeak, senior Adam Wood’s WoodsTalk and freshman Callista Fries’s Live from Callyfornia.
Stobbe was one of the first voices to star in the bi-monthly exposition, but this semester the journalism department has decide to include two new participants.
Wood has articulated his opinion on sports in his weekly podcast WoodsTalk. In the podcast, Wood speaks about baseball and basketball, and earlier in the year he gave his thoughts on football.

“On my current podcasts, I talk about the upcoming baseball season and basketball games, including Coach [Josh] Justin’s thoughts,” Wood said. “I do this podcast to give people an inside scoop or look at what goes on behind the scenes.”
Wood encourages people to listen to his podcast since they can learn information about the games and sports at FC.
“People should go and listen because they could find out some really cool things they didn’t see during the game,” Wood said. “This podcast is a great way for people to get better insight about the school’s sports.”
Fries expresses her views on student life through her podcast Live from Callyfornia.
“The first podcast was about rumors and the affect they have on people,” Fries said. “The inspiration of my podcasts come from the events that are occurring in my life. People should go listen to my podcast because I talk about issues that are applicable to everyone, so it is helpful in various ways to listeners.”

Another feature in The Feather are the site’s multiple blogs, which can be found on the right menu bar of the publication. Each blog comes out on a specific day of the week and readers are encouraged to find out when their favorites are scheduled.
The blog site features eight series: Fresno Mythbusters by seniors Julianne King and Stobbe; Inside the Huddle by seniors Austin Rurik and Chandler Vargas; In Someone Else’s Shoes by seniors Amanda Merzon and Raine Hayes; Tangents by sophomore Mark Bennett; The Alternative Truth by juniors Brandon Porter and Matt Adams; The Guy Blog: Senior Edition by Nick Avery, David Casuga and Trevor York; The Sports Life by Grossman; and Weekly Devotions by senior Brady Lee.
Highlighting his passions of faith and music, Porter writes The Alternative Truth .
“The blog is about Christian music, which does not get a lot of recognition. I enjoy covering this topic and I feel it needs to be addressed,” Porter said. “Anyone who enjoys music and Jesus would get a lot out of it and maybe learn about some really cool new bands.”
Unlike formal articles, blogs present a more relaxed tone and perspective. The blogs are more casual and conversational, with direct ideas from students.
Tangents, by Bennett, is a blog that channels all of his unique ideas.
“My blog is about the random things that pass through my mind, which tend to interest people,” Bennett said. “I was bored one day and a fellow student gave me the idea to start writing a blog, and then Tangents was born.”
According to Bennett, his blog is worth reading for its entertaining topics and information.
“People should read this blog because it is about many awesome topics that are not only humorous, but also informational to some extent,” Bennett said.
Freshman Aaron DeWolf stays updated with the blogs, and hopes not to miss out on Bennett’s thoughts.
“I enjoy reading the blogs because they are funny, educational and give peoples opinions so its always nice to read, especially because they short and convenient to read,” DeWolf said. “I specifically enjoy reading Mark’s blog because of the humor and light-hearted information, but also all the other blogs are really interesting.”
