PIRATES FALL AGAINST FC–March 8
On March 8, the Eagles took on Reedley at Sunnyside Country Club, the first home match for Fresno Christian. The Eagles were victorious, beating the Pirates by 7 with a score of 242-249. Although only half the team had played there before, the Eagles managed to stand firm on their home soil, improving their record to 1-1 overall.

Coach Jeff Hopper felt that the boys played well as a team to collect the win.

“I had given Jeff and Tyler the challenge of playing their matches against par rather than against their opponent, and Jeff was able to accomplish that today, with a very well-played 35,” Hopper said. “Tyler played well, too, and their improved scores help push us to the win. Because we count five of six scores, we could always say that this player or that was the difference maker, but it sure helps when your lead players go out and dominate like they did today.”

Players Jason Kim, Colby Lee, and Christopher Grossman played at Sunnyside for the first time Thursday, losing home-course advantage. Although this set the team back, coach Hopper was pleased with the outcome.

“This match was the first at our home course for matches, yet it was the first ever at Sunnyside for three of our guys, so they had to get used to the course as much as the guys on the Reedley team,” Hopper said. “Next time out, they should all be more comfortable here.”

The Eagles will next playKingsburg at Sunnyside, March 12.
