The Eagles took on Tranquillity High School in their fourth game of the season, Sep. 16. Fresno Christian lost, 61-3, after losing several key players to injuries.
Seniors Dominic Mendoza and JP Caprioglio both missed time as well as Caleb Nale, 14, David Taylor, 14, Matt Ely, ’15 and freshman Jon Anguiano. Sophomore Cole Nale thinks that the inconsistent group of players on the field contributed to their struggles.
“It was definitely hard for us to find a rhythm when all the players are shuffled over and over.” Said Nale, who had one catch for 7 yards. “Once somebody has to go out, then we have to replace him with another guy who doesn’t necessarily know what he’s doing or what his assignment is. When this happens, the whole play is thrown out of whack, whether offensively or defensively.”
The Eagles struggled to accomplish much offensively, gaining only 108 total yards. Their only points came off of a 20 yard field goal by senior Brandon McCormick.
“Honestly, I was just glad to put some points on the board.” McCormick said. “It doesn’t seem like 3 points would make a difference in a game like this, but it looks a lot better when you can at least score.”
Head Coach Mick Fuller thought that the team played well despite the circumstances and that the team should take this as a learning experience.

“I was pleased with the positive attitude the team maintained during the game.” Fuller said. “They gave their best effort. We have a long way to go in building strength, understanding, executing assignments, and taking advantage of opportunities to make plays, cause turnovers, and score.
The Eagles’ next game will be a homestand against Avenal High School where FC will attempt to defend it’s home turf, Sept. 21.
