The Eagles traveled north to Woodland Polytechnic High School to take on the Buffaloes in a non-league battle. FC defeated Woodland Poly, 30-13, for their second win of the season, Oct. 5.

Junior running back Hunter Bachman who led the team in rushing with 107 yards, enjoyed the game and looks forward to the opportunity to play again.

“It was really fun, the offensive line made a lot of good blocks,” Bachman said. “We had some good defensive plays. Caleb {Nale, ’14,} made some good passes, and we were able to run the ball pretty well. Overall, I think we played well, and I’m not just saying that because we won. Speaking for myself, I could have been more focused and played harder. We made some mistakes, especially me, and got a lot of penalties, but I had a lot of fun and look forward to getting better and winning games.”

Assistant coach Rob Foshee believes that the team played well and deserved the victory.

“I think they really came into their own.” Foshee said. “Our offensive line, led by John Dooman blocked well and executed their assignments to perfection. We had a huge game in terms of rushing, our backs did a great job of running downhill and fighting for every extra yard. The boys really went to work and earned this win.”

Senior wide receiver Brandon McCormick, who had 78 total offensive yards and 5 tackles, is glad the team captured a win and wants to capitalize on it.

“The game was a big morale booster for the team.” McCormick said. “We played well, not perfect, but pretty good. One thing we did a lot better was playing as a team. Our offense really clicked and we reaped the benefits. I’m looking forward to the bye week; our bodies really need the rest. That being said, we can’t let up at practice and have to work even harder to get ready for the Beach Trip.”

After their bye week the Eagles will travel to Watsonville to play Watsonville High School, Oct. 19.
