The FC Eagles played against Fowler Redcats and lost all three games, Oct. 4. The Redcats came out strong from the beginning with strong serves and hits, defeating the Eagles in the first game, 25-9.
The Eagles tried to catch up to the Redcats by utilizing their setters and blockers in the second game. However, the Redcats passed through FC’s defense and won, 25-16. The third game was similar to the previous games and Fowler defeated FC, 25-19.
Despite losing against the Redcats, freshman Olivia Quebe believes that she is satisfied since the team tried their best.
“Even though we lost, we tried our best,” Quebe said. “I think effort and having passion for the sport is way more important than numbers on the scoreboard. I still love working with my teammates and if we just give everything we have on the court, we will eventually get better as the season goes by.”
According to sophomore Ashley Garcia, it is important for the team to focus on basics. Although she is disappointed with the loss, she is determined to defeat the Redcats in the next game.
“We didn’t play to the best of our ability,” Garcia said. “We also made very simple mistakes that cost us the game. Fowler is one of our biggest rivals and next time we play them we will definitely come out with a win.”
FC will next play against Caruthers High School on Oct. 9.

I love seeing our student journalists demonstrating their leadership and teaching others their craft. It’s amazing the skills they’ve learned from their experience with the Feather.
Way to “live without fear” Brooke & David! You guys are stepping out and taking risks in a big way. So proud of you : )
