The FC music department sets the stage for the first home concert of this year, which will be held in the Ground Zero building, Nov. 6. The jazz band will perform first at 7 p.m., later followed by the FC Adoration Ensemble.
In order to fundraise a budget for the music department, the jazz band and ensemble prepare for the dessert concert where sweets and pastries are offered for sale.
“The band plans to peform five pieces: ‘My Dinner with Ronald’, ‘Hit the Bricks’, ‘Bossa Madeira’, ‘All About You’ and ‘River Rat Shuffle’,” Music Director Michael Ogdon said.
Ogdon believes the groups are ready for the performance.
“I feel great about the concert because the jazz band has improved since the start of the school year,” Ogdon said. “I am fully aware that the band posesses great potential so I look forward to seeing great outcome.”
Experiences from last year performances encouraged saxphonist Suzy Caroll, ’14, and she remains positive about the instrumental evening.
“I like playing the tenor saxophone, although it has been really challenging to me,” Caroll said. “I know that we will do great because of our commmitment to muscianship and talent.”
Guitarist for the band, Eric Cowin, ’14, also looks forward to performing on this upcoming Tuesday night.
“Playing my guitar in front of many audience is very exciting especially with my solos so I look forward to the concert,” Cowin said. “I know that by performing formally on the stage helps me to become a better musician.”
The ensemble will also participate after the band’s performance on stage and Lynn Kim, ’13, is excited to sing for the audience.
“I can’t wait to sing all the songs we’ve been practicing for this semester so I am looking forward to this concert,” Kim said. “This is the biggest concert we had so far and I hope that my friends will come to see us sing beautiful songs.”
The ensemble plans to sing: “Yes, Lord,” “Your Love is All Around Us,” “And God shall Wipe Away All Tears,” “Beautiful Things,” “I Want Jesus to Walk with Me,” and “Scripture Song Medley.”

We are hoping to put on a great banquet in order to honor the achievements of the senior CSF life members. We have some pretty good ideas so far and hope that they enjoy what we come up with. They deserve this recognition 🙂 🙂 🙂
