Grizzlies host job fair

For teenagers in need of income, the Fresno Grizzlies 2003 job fair may be the answer. Taking place on Feb. 8 from 10 am – 4 pm at the Downtown Grizzlies Stadium. The organization is hoping to hire 225 concession employees and various other job opportunities abound for all ages.

“The Grizzlies organization is a great place for youths to enter the work force,” Randy Doughty, concessions co-supervisor, said. “It provides a great family atmosphere and is perfectly suited for high school students.”

However, students should know that the Grizzlies employment requirements are professional and commitment is crucial. The Grizzlies will be analyzing attitude, willingness to work and punctuality in their prospective employees. Grizzlies President, Scott Hulme, has three children who have attended campus and is excited to give students a job opportunity.

“Fresno Christian students would be perfect,” Hulme said. “Through their Christian background and understanding of the Bible, they have gained a great feel for the host/guest relationship and that is the most essential part of our business.”

Despite the professional code of ethics demanded, several students on campus will still attempt to acquire a position.

“I was interested last year but didn’t have the time,” Laura Wiens,’03, said. “I will definitely attend the job fair and if I’m hired, I know I’ll enjoy the experience.”

Potential jobs at the stadium include: ushers, security, concessions, warehouse, etc. Even with the multiple positions available, competition will be fierce, with numerous applicants expected to attend the fair. Last year, over 2,500 people attended the fair which was held at the Radisson hotel.

“This would be my first real job,” Nate King, ’05, said. “I feel that this gives me a disadvantage but I will still try my best to prove that I will be a valuable addition to their staff.”

Applicants must interview, complete a competency test and then need to wait to be contacted by mail by Feb. 20. For more information on job fair specifics and the application process, call the Grizzlies job line at (559) 320-2527. The Grizzlies’ second season begins April 3 and continues through Aug. 31.

Students interested on campus can pick up a Fresno Grizzlies 2003 Job Fair flier at the high school office.
