The Eagles traveled to Maricopa High School for a non-league contest against the Indians, Nov. 30. The Eagles were victorious with a score of 59-20 in their first game of the year, despite missing four players.
The Eagles maintained a lead for the majority of the game and held onto it due to the efforts of leading scorers Jordan Boudreau, ’13 and Trevor Beal, ’15 who had 14 and 12 points, respectively.
First year head coach Robert Hubbard was pleased with the team’s performance and looks forward to the opportunities this year will present.
“It was a great way for us to start the season” Said Hubbard “We have a lot of young players and everyone contributed to help us get the win. Overall, we need to continue to work hard in practice and continue to grow as a unit. I’m very excited to see the continued growth of this team.”
Beal thought that the team capitalized on their variety of skill sets and that they have a bright season ahead of them.
“This year we have a mixture of players” Beal said. “The Maricopa game demonstrated our ability to come together as a team and to represent our school to the best of our abilities. I look forward to our next game.”
The 1-0 Eagles will next take on Farmersville High School, Dec. 5.
