Superintendent Debbie Siebert will give the State of the School address, Jan. 28, to inform the FC community of the school’s current condition.
This presentation will cover the topics of arts, athletics, academics, school ministry, and finances from 7-8 p.m. in the Peoples Church Music Suite.
Teachers, parents, students and supporters are welcome to join this event as it will inform the community about FC topics and subjects. Siebert encourages people to come to the occasion, hoping it will give them a better understanding of where the school stands.
“Anyone interested in our school should attend this meeting,” Siebert said. “I started the State of the School address because I think it’s important to give people an opportunity to have an inside look at what’s happening at Fresno Christian.”
This year Siebert will have four people from Student Leadership talk about their personal experiences. Stephen Melendez, ’13, Emily Shakeshaft, ’14, Tynin Fries, ’14, and Chris Grossman, ’13, will share a presentation with the audience, each about a different subject.
“For the first time in this event, I’m having Student Leadership share,” Siebert said. “Four people from student leadership are going to talk about their perspectives on what is happening at the school. Stephan will be there to talk about athletics, Emily is coming to talk about faith, Tynin will be there to talk about the arts at the school such as The Feather and band, and choir and Chris will come to talk about school spirit and building community.”
Siebert believes that attending the State of the School address every year should help people know about FC’s status.
“Every year at Fresno Christian is an entity to itself,” Siebert said. “We’ve been around for 36 years, but each year is unique. Some things are continuous, some are about the same, but we want that foundational truth to happen over and over again. That gives students strength and stability.”
Along with student leadership sharing their personal experiences about FC, Siebert will address the topic of the Alumni Gala Dinner featuring NFL player Tim Tebow.
“Tim Tebow is a huge celebrity in the United States,” Siebert said. “He’s got a story to tell about his faith and journey. We encourage people to come to the event because it’s a fundraiser for both Fresno Christian and Break the Barriers.”
Junior Jonathan Agao feels that it is unnecessary to attend this event as his day is already filled with other activities.
“I actually had no idea that this was happening Monday,” Agao said. “I’m not attending due to my track practice that day. I will have no energy for anything else.”
