EAGLES LOSE, 3-1, AGAINST COWBOYS, JAN. 28
On Jan. 28, the FC boys soccer team traveled to Riverdale High. The Eagles lost 3-1 in a hard-fought game.
Riverdale scored twice in the first half, but FC kept the game close, as senior Christian Sailor scored near the end of the half. In the second half, Riverdale added a goal to pull away, leading to the final score of 3-1.
Coach Matt Markarian said that the team has shown serious improvement over the past few games.
“In this game and the second half of the Parlier game, the team really stepped up,” Markarian said. “If we can play like this for the rest of the league season, we are in position to win some games. We need to focus on playing with this kind of energy every game.”
Sweeper Adam Khouzam, ’15, agreed that the team played well despite losing.
“As a team, I think we did well,” Khouzam said. “We stayed in the game, even though we lost. We played a lot harder than in some other games.”
Team captain Christian Saylor, ’14, was proud of the team’s hard work in the Riverdale game.
“We played with good effort against a good team,” Saylor said. “We were unlucky a couple of times. I am proud of everyone’s effort. The effort this year is better than last year’s team.”
The Eagles play next at Caruthers, Jan. 31.
