About a haircut

Some think it is not enough to just show up and teach passionately, with verve and wit. Yet math students found out on Aug. 31 that their initial opinions on math department chair, Michael Fenton’s, haircut had nothing to do with his presentation or impact during algebra II honors class.

“Some thought I got a haircut because I like to shock students,” Fenton said. “Others believed I lost a bet.”

In fact, Fenton went on to say that a rumor spread that his younger cousin found a pair of scissors and found him asleep on a couch. He awoke up too late and saw a pile of hair on the floor.

According to Fenton all the above reasons for his short hair are false.

“I got a haircut because I am cheap,” he said, “and I only like to get two or three cuts a year. It was time, and the only free haircuts I know of are the ones I give myself. And, the only haircut I know how to do is a shaved head.”

His comments in class the next day caused a buzz with sophomores Ryan Aydelotte, middle, and Alyssa Quenzer.
