Grandparents joined their grandkids in class during Grandparents’ Day, Sept. 26. In his freshman English class, Zedekiah Fries confidently answered teacher Greg Stobbe’s question, “Can you solve your own problems?” with an emphatic, “Yes!”

However, much to his dismay, grandmother Sylvia Heinrichs interjected with a tale of Zed’s recent, unsuccessful cooking venture ? a burnt dinner ? sparking an uproar of laughter in the class.

“And,” grandma Heinrichs added, “he’s not as independent as he’d like to think.”
