In order to help break the tradition of dress code and rules lectures, the peer counseling class brought in Trini Valdez, self-defense instructor, center, to teach the campus ladies tips to guard themselves against attackers during the girls’ gender chapel, Oct. 28.
Valdez’s new martial art studio in Madera, “The Dojo”, holds self-defense classes for all ages year round.
