As part of the all-school service project, Paige Maltos, ’10, not only made a friend in young Emily, but also impacted her life by playing catch and engaging in tickle fights on Nov. 5.
Emily, a three-year-old girl living in the Pleasant View Apartments with her mother and sister, was one of many young children that students reached out to while playing soccer, blowing bubbles and coloring with preschool-aged kids.
After playing with a couple of students, Emily ran to the manager of the apartments and shouted, “Thank you for my new friends!”
Maltos, a member of the varsity girls’ basketball team, enjoyed breaking the mold of a typical school day. She spent time reaching out to those less fortunate than herself.
“It was fun playing with little kids and seeing them smile,” Maltos said. “Knowing that what we were doing left a positive impact on others made it all very worthwhile.”
