Despite nerves about competing with a large squad of 25 girls, the campus cheerleaders, for the third time this season, won first place in a high school competition.
Not only did they compete in the Intermediate Show-cheer Division but were awarded Grand Champs at the Golden State Spirit Association (GSSA) Spirit 1 Cheer and Dance Championships, Dec. 13.
The competition at the Sacramento Convention Center was packed full of cheerleaders and their families from across the state. While the girls had never participated in GSSA, the strength and skill of their performance earned the title of High school Grand Champions and a so far undeafeated season.
According to the judges, coach Katie Mendenhall’s team continues to showcase consistency, high energy and performs the difficult routine with precision and showmanship.
