With a little over a month left until the USA’s (United Spirit Association) Cheerleading Nationals in Anaheim, California, the campus cheer squad attended a local competition. The girls have attended the annual Clovis Pep Classic for the past several years, and this year, earned their second consecutive first place, Jan. 31.
While in 2008, the varsity girls competed with a small squad of only 11, this year the capains have undertaken the challenge of leading a combined team of 25 high schoolers. With the help and support of coach Katie Mendenhall, not pictured, and many parents, the competition squad has managed to not only compete together, but also win.
The cheerleaders are now four for four this season and will next compete at Azusa Pacific University for the FCC (Fellowship of Christian Cheerleaders) Regional competition, Feb. 28.
