Fresno Christian community assembles at Peoples Church on day one
The 2015-16 school year was kicked off once again with a beginning of the year convocation. Classes from K-12 met in the Peoples church sanctuary to prelude another year at FCS. Friends greeted each other with hugs and smiles, speaking of old times and experiences.
The morning was started off with worship, and the Superintendent Jeremy Brown welcoming all of the students and families to the Fresno Christian family. To begin the service, Jeremy introduced the chairman of the Fresno Christian board, Chris Schultz and a pastor at The Well.
Schultz lead the congregation in prayer, asking for the guidance and wisdom for the teachers and students as they start off the school year and the continued blessing and continual wisdom for the superintendent and principal.
The wisdom from the superintendent was first displayed at the yearly and traditional speech at convocation. Similar to the previous year, Brown’s goal for the year were based off of the Caleb Code, which in turn will make Fresno Christian a beacon to all other highs schools in the San Joaquin Valley.
“My goal for this school year is to seek truth, speak life, and to serve others,” Brown said. “I really believe that this generation has the opportunity to really be ‘world changers.’ Never before in our country’s history has a generation had such a minority of believers. I hope that as a community, FCS will continue the 39 year history of influencing and changing our community for the Kingdom of God.”
Freshman Alina Ochoa has been at Fresno Christian for the past four years, she enjoyed the convocation and will look forward to the plans which Superintendent Brown has set.
“I am excited for this year,” Ochoa said. “Especially since I am just coming into high school, while I am nervous, I am also hopeful for my time in Freshmen year. I had never heard of the Caleb Codes before until I heard Mr. Browns speech but if we can put these thoughts into practice then we as a school can become a great example to others.”

Junior Trevor Trevino enjoyed the time of worship to start off the year, along with Jeremy Browns speech about giving the students a goal to set their eyes upon.
“Last year, Mr. Brown came in, and I was unsure of the change,” Trevino said. “However after experiencing last year, and listening to his goals for this year, I have become a fan of his arrival. Hopefully students will take it to heart, that we as Gods feet and mouth, are to be evangelists to the people around us through our actions and words. And also as a community, that we can show Gods love in our school in all circumstances, changing things for the better in the world of God. This was shown in Browns goal to speak truth, speak life, and to serve others. If we can accomplish this, then we have truly become God’s feet and mouth.”
Students began their day with this message in the back of their mind, gnawing at their thoughts as they met their friends and attended their classes for the first time. This message of being the feet of Jesus will hopefully mold the students into walking in the likeness of Jesus Christ.
