During the last Thursday chapel before Thanksgiving break, Bible teacher Robert Foshee, right, hands senior Justin Wilson the microphone so he can discuss the idea of being thankful even when times get rough.
Wilson shared a video of 6-year old Josiah Viera, a little boy suffering from progeria, a disease causing him to age rapidly. Only one in four million children develop this disease; Viera is one of 54 people worldwide currently struggling to fight it, according to the video.
According to Viera’s mom, his only dream in life is to play baseball; he loves the sport regardless of whether he wins or loses. He is 27-inches tall, only two inches taller than the length of his bat, and weighs 15 pounds.
After the video finished, Wilson returned to the stage with tears in his eyes and a mic in his hand. He encouraged the students to always remember how fortunate they are, even when it seems like life is falling apart.
