Rather than have a Thanksgiving dinner, junior Austen Houts and her family choose to have a Thanksgiving lunch, hosted at her grandma Baiba Caire’s house, Nov. 25, 2005. This year, Caire made all the food along with carrying out her hosting duties.
Houts says they celebrate Thanksgiving at either Caire’s or her aunt Shirly Buckenburger’s home. She finds spending time with her family the best part of the holidays.
“My favorite part is listening to my aunt’s hilarious stories about her childhood,” Houts said. “My favorite part of the meal was the mashed potatoes and home-made pumpkin pie.”
