During the home boys’ varsity soccer game against Caruthers, junior captain Austin Rurik, right, takes on his Blue Raiders opponent in a battle for the ball, Jan. 25. Rurik remained focused on the footwork of his challenger and soon retrieved the ball.

The Eagles and Blue Raiders were tied 1-1 up until the end of the second half when Caruthers scored a last-minute goal. The final score was 2-1, a victory for the Blue Raiders.
