The Feather brings its readers weekly FC campus announcements published the first day of each week. This week coverage is from Feb. 1 – Feb. 5, 2016.

As the sports schedule gets underway, consider supporting JH and HS athletes at our home games. The week’s athletic events are listed in the weekly announcements below.

Sports Events the Week of 2/1 – 2/5

Monday

HS varsity boys soccer vs Fowler at 3:30 p.m. Dismissal at 2:10 p.m.

Tuesday

JH boys baseball vs Bullard Talent at 2:45 p.m. Dismissal at 1:45 p.m.

JH girls basketball at Tenaya, 3 p.m. Dismissal at 1:45 p.m.

HS varsity girls vs Fowler at 3:30 p.m. Dismissal at 2:10 p.m.

Thursday

JH boys baseball at Scandinavian, 2:45 p.m. Dismissal at 1:30 p.m.

Friday

HS varsity girls soccer at Riverdale, 4:30 p.m. Dismissal at 2:10 p.m.

HS varsity boys soccer at Riverdale, 6:30 p.m.

JV boys basketball at Riverdale, 4:30 p.m. Dismissal at 2:10 p.m.

HS varsity girls basketball at Riverdale, 6 p.m.

HS varsity boys basketball at Riverdale, 7:30 p.m.

T.E.A. Talks

A new group called TEA Talks has formed on campus and is lead by juniors Hannah Nale and Jennifer King. It is open to all HS girls and is meant to build friendships in Christ while encouraging others and learning about the Word.

Brother to Brother

Brother to brother will have an on campus lunch, Feb. 1. They will also be having an off campus lunch, Feb. 2.

Juniors taking the SAT

Juniors who are planning to take the SAT, March 5, must register online through College Board by the Feb. 5 deadline. If you are interested in SAT/ACT prep courses, contact Michelle Warkentin.

Spring Formal

Fresno Christian’s Spring Formal, formally known as NOTS, will be held a Wolf Lakes, April 2, 2016. The theme this year will be set in the Roaring 20’s and tickets will be available starting Feb. 29, price TBA. More information will be available soon.

Break the Barriers

FC is looking for students to volunteer for Break the Barriers on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Volunteer work will count for hours toward CSF.

Talent Show

FC will be having tryouts for a multi-school talent, the week of Feb. 1. See Robert Foshee or Vicky Belmont to inquire more information on tryouts. FC will be hosting the talent show during chapel Tue, Feb. 23. The other schools involved are Riverdale, Caruthers and Fowler.

Love Concert

FC’s ladies ensemble, Bellezza, is putting on a concert in honor of Valentine’s Day, Feb. 6. It will be held in the SMC and begin at 7 p.m. A variety of desserts and candies will be provided as Bellezza sings different love songs.

Winter Festivus

Leadership is hosting a Winter Festivus at the Nale Barn located at 5840 N Biola Ave Friday, Feb. 19. It is from 5-10 p.m. and costs $20. There will be games, food, and a movie. For more information contact Robert Foshee or Vickey Belmont.

Seniors

Seniors who have applied to a local SCCCD community college must complete their online orientation as soon as possible. If you have any questions please contact Michelle Warkentin.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) filing period is open from Jan. 1 – Mar. 2. This is an application for free financial assistance for college and also the application for The Middle-Class Scholarship. For more information about how to apply contact Michelle Warkentin or visit https://fafsa.ed.gov/

Local Cash for College Workshops are also being held now where you can receive help completing the application http://www.csac.ca.gov/ccfc.asp.

ESL help for International Students

Tamara Hill will be available in the library on Mondays and Tuesdays from 3-4 p.m. for ESL support for our international students. Any questions can be directed to Hill.

ON Campus Lunch Menu

JH/HS Leadership will offer lunch throughout the year on Thursday and Friday.
