[/media-credit] This week in sports the high school varsity soccer team played Parlier and the Caruthers Blue Raiders.

The week of Feb. 8 – Feb. 12 the FC boys soccer team played three league matches. On Mon, Feb. 8, they played at Caruthers HS. Tue, Feb. 9, they played at Parlier HS. Thurs. Feb. 11, they played at home against Caruthers HS for FC’s senior night.

On Monday, the team traveled to Caruthers to play in a rescheduled league match-up. The eagles started out very strong scoring three goals in the first 15 minutes of the game. All goals were scored by senior, Caleb Goodale. For the rest of the game, both teams began to battle well and the score remained the same at 3-0 with an eagle victory.

On Tuesday, the eagles traveled to Parlier to play their second league match against Parlier. The first game they played the score was 2-0 in favor of Parlier. The boys sought to take a win against a tough opponent this time around. They played a tight game except in the final minutes of the game, the eagles gave up a late goal allowing Parlier to take the win 1-0.

Junior captain, Jacob Bynum, realizes that his team played well but notes that his brief absence caused confusion in the defense.

“We played very well and our defense was strong,” Bynum said. “It was really close up until the end of the game. I had to use the restroom and left the game for a moment. When I came back, the score was 0-1 and our defense looked confused.”

On Thursday, the eagles had their last home game of league which was their senior night. The seniors that were honored were: Bailey Brogan, Joshua Carter, Andrew Moore, Caleb Goodale, Elijah Hiett, and John Reis. Once again they played Caruthers and the eagles clearly wanted their seniors to go out strong. Caleb Goodale scored all four goals for the eagles and they did not allow any. The boys took the win on senior night 4-0.

Next week the boys will play in a playoff game against Wonderful College Prep Academy on Tue, Feb. 16. Come out to support your eagles in their championship run.
