Econ Fair 2016

Rob Foshee’s civics and econ class continued a long tradition at FC last Thursday by hosting the annual, Econ Fair. Traditionally, this has been a very popular event among the high school and junior high. The students in Foshee’s class split up into groups and decided upon products that they would like to sell. Many groups turn to social media to gain interest from students in their products leading up to the fair. Once the fair is over, the students reflect on the experience and how they might use sales skills in the real world while occasionally making a little bit of extra cash.

Food is always among the best selling products at the fair. Senior Brittany Bender sold tri-tip sandwiches at the fair this year with her partners. She enjoyed the experience but thought that it was difficult to know how many people to plan for. She advises anyone who is selling food in the future to buy double what you think you need.

“My partners and I sold tri-tip sandwiches,” Bender said. “The hardest part was trying to figure if we were going to sell out and how much to buy. My advice to next year’s students is to sell food. Make sure if you do sell food to buy double the amount that you need because you never know if you’ll sell out.”

Overall, the Econ fair this year was another success. Foshee looks forward to creativity in products improving in the upcoming years. Now it is up to next year’s students to come into the civics and econ class and carry on the tradition.
