Where are all those Nuts?

Where have all the Nuts gone? What happened to all the kids who used to bring their friends, parents and number one fingers to the football games?

The Nut House has not been very nutty. Recently, the Nuts have numbered a dozen on a good night; most occupants of the “Nut House” are members from the student body who just sit and chat among themselves at home games.

This campus possesses cheerleaders to cheer and a pep band that provides pep, yet the activities at football games seem to scream self-glorification. What about the football players; do they not have a role any longer? What about cheering them on?

If the common goal at football games only pertains to everyone acting on behalf of their own agenda, people miss the point. The crowds are supposed to come to football games to support the players.

The lack of attention by this campus’ crowd affects the overall experience of football games. The entire structure of home football games needs reorganization. The Nut House, band and cheerleaders should unite. Then, the cheerleaders could actually cheer to a crowd with music and have others cheering as well.

Society as a whole lives for the opportunity to root an underdog on to victory, a chance to help the underdog overcome the odds and triumph. American culture loves a winner and will not tolerate a loser, unless they are from Boston.

The football team has already overcome many challenges and difficulties throughout the year. They continually prove that hard work and dedication pay off in victory. However, the lack of attendance points towards society’s impression that winning is all that matters.

The facts stand; a 3-5 overall record remains less favorable than an 11?1 overall record. In the past, more people have attended football games and we have gone undefeated, not even allowing the opponents to score.

As of late, participating at home football games appears to be the unpopular thing to do. Students at this campus have even gone so far as to support other school’s football teams; so much for school spirit. Attending football games has become more of a chore than an act of enjoyment.

So where are those Nuts?
