For the first time since its inception in 1998, The Feather Online is honored during the Fresno City Council meeting. Council President Clinton J. Olivier, center, introduces Councilmember Larry Westerlund, left center, and Fresno Christian students and adviser Greg Stobbe during the Ceremonial Presentations portion of the morning agenda, April 26.
After the introductions, the City Clerk, Yvonne Spence, CMC, read the City of Fresno’s Proclamation which included recognition of The Feather’s recent national awards: National Scholastic Press Association’s Pacemaker and All-American newspaper and the Columbia Scholastic Press Association’s Crown.
Additionally, the Proclamation proclaimed April 26, 2012, to be “The Feather Online Day” in the City of Fresno.
All council members and Mayor Ashley Swearengin signed the document which also had the Seal of the City of Fresno, California.
Finally, each member of The Feather Online staff was also given a certificate of recognition, congratulating them for winning their fourth NSPA Online Pacemaker. The documents were hand signed by Olivier and Westerlund and also included the Seal of Fresno.
