[/media-credit] The Eagles will have their first game on Aug. 27 against Big Valley Christian

After months of preparation, the FC football team will compete in their first game. This game, however may be foreign to some players, as this will be the first 11 man game that the Eagles have played in four years. The team will travel to Modesto to take on the, Big Valley Christian Lions on Aug. 27.

The Eagles recently took part in the Central Sierra League scrimmage, where they played Kings Christian and Riverdale Christian. A rule was put into play so that no player could hit the quarterback. If anyone got close, the referees were quick to blow the whistle. No score was kept in either game.

Tyler Villines, ’18, felt that the team struggled and was not a fan of the strict safety rule. He has high expectations for the team in their first game.

“I felt that the team struggled on Saturday,” Villines said. “We didn’t get a chance to show what we could do because of the strict safety rules. I expect for us to come out with a win in out first game.”

Although the scrimmage did not go the way the team wanted, offensive coordinator, Mike Zamarippa, felt that the team had a great week of practice and is excited to travel up to Modesto.

“I felt that the scrimmage didn’t go the way we wanted,” Zamarippa said. “I don’t think we executed the way we should have. We had a great week of practice and I’m excited to travel to Modesto and get a win.”

Saturday night kicks off a ten game season for the Eagles. The team is confident that they can walk away with a win to start off a season in which they are defending their valley championship title.
