Senior Katie Barisic won first place for her scratch board drawing in The Big Fresno Fair, in the Junior Exhibit Building, Oct. 9.
Barisic also won a second honor: The Peoples Choice Award on, Oct. 9. This award is voted on by anyone who attended the fair. Everyone was given the opportunity to vote for their favorite drawing, painting, or sculpture.
“I got the idea to do a feather from the school newspaper,” Barisic said. “Scratch boards are difficult but really intricate at the same time. When you master scratch board, the possibilities are endless.”
There is one winner named each day. Art teacher Sharon Scharf was very excited about Barisic winning.
“Her scratchboard has also been chosen by Allard’s Art Store to be exhibited in their hanging for the month of November,” Scharf said. “This is a great way to kick off her senior year.”
