Christmas concert spreads holiday cheer

Traditions make the holiday season special, and one of the oldest school traditions will continue this year during the Annual Christmas Concert on Dec. 13. Campus bands and choirs will employ their musical gifts to spread some Christmas cheer.

Aaron Bryan, choir director, is enthusiastic about the upcoming performance.

“We are working on our music everyday,” Bryan said. “We are continually refining and reshaping it so that we can present our very best. I feel that we are going to do an exceptional job.”

The ensemble repertoire includes many new songs, both serious and humorous.

“The ensemble will be performing three songs, one of which is a fresh and lively arrangement of ?Angels We Have Heard’,” Bryan said. “The concert choir will also perform three songs, including the traditional, ?Go Tell It On a Mountain’. Also, a unique Christmas song that I believe will set the holiday spirit is entitled ?Fruitcake’.”

Choir members are also enthusiastic about the concert.

“The performance looks promising,” Ron Blalack, ’06, said. “We have a variety of songs and we have been working hard to correct any mistakes in them; our director is very meticulous.”

The Christmas Concert will not be the choir’s first performance; they have already gained experience from choir competitions earlier this year.

“The ensemble has been to two festivals, and I think both of them were great learning events,” Bryan said. “I feel that our high school choirs have grown a lot, and we are going to do an exceptional job.”

Bryan is also looking forward to and preparing the choir members for future performances.

“Next semester we will perform at the Fine Arts Showcase at the Veteran’s Memorial Auditorium on Feb. 22,” Bryan said. “Then the choir will be heading to Sacramento in early March for the ACSI High School Musical. We will perform in festivals and sing with many other schools in a mass choir concert.”

The Christmas Concert is on Mon., Dec. 13. It will be held at the Community Bible Church at 7pm.
