The Eagles traveled to Monterey to face off against the Trinity Warriors, Oct. 1. This game versus the Warriors was on a Saturday which provided a different atmosphere for the game. The Eagles were not thrown off by the time or weather and sought to take the win.

FC began its rivalry against Trinity two seasons ago and was 2-0 heading into the game. The Eagles looked to continue their win streak against Trinity. The game started with FC on the defensive side. Trinity ran the ball down the field for a touchdown on the opening drive. The Eagles got right back in the game and scored a touchdown of their own. FC and Trinity both scored twice in the first quarter but due to two-point conversions, the Eagles had the lead 16-14.

The Eagles took control of the second quarter scoring 20 points and only allowing 6. Scores came in from multiple players such as Julian Castro, ‘17, Tyler Villines, ‘18, and Daniel Ayres, ‘17. The Eagles kept their foot on the gas pedal the entire quarter and finished the half winning, 36-20.

The third quarter was a tough one for both teams. Defenses from both sides were locking down the game. Both FC and Trinity were held to only one score. However, the Eagles were able to convert on a two-point try to acquire eight points to Trinity’s six. The Eagles continued to lead at the end of the third, 44-26.

Looking to close the game out, the Eagles did not back off. Although having a sizable lead, FC fought all the way to the end. Senior, Slater Wade, contributed to 2 out of the three touchdowns scored in the fourth quarter. Trinity did not lose their fighting spirit and scored 1 more touchdown with 4 seconds left in the game. The Eagles would take the win 64-34.

Roman Endicott, ’18, was pleased with the play of the Eagles and believes the team played well.

“I think we did really well,” Endicott said. “We executed our assignments and played aggressive.”

Senior Sage Sobrado, enjoys the win over a tough opponent and looks ahead towards homecoming.

“It feels great to win against a team like them,” Sobrado said. “I look forward to the big crowds and good football on homecoming.”

The win over Trinity puts FC’s overall record at 5-1. The Eagles will face off against Kings Christian in a league game for FC’s homecoming.
