Fall festivities draw in crowds

Planet Pumpkin offers variety of styles, amusement rides

Halloween is creeping up, so many try to get in the fall spirit by heading to pumpkin patches. A mix between an amusement park, carnival and a pumpkin patch, Planet Pumpkin offers many things; food, rides, games, face painting and a large pumpkin selection. Open seven days a week, this pumpkin getaway acts a safe and family friendly location to purchase pumpkins and a few tasty snacks.

Parent of three and first time attendee, Simrin feels that Planet Pumpkin offers a very kid friendly environment for little ones to have fun. She also enjoys the many rides that the pumpkin patch offers.  

“I really like how cozy and small Planet Pumpkin is,” Simrin said. “I have three little kids, and I like how kid friendly the pumpkin patch is. My favorite thing to do here is ride all the fun and exciting rides.”

All rides at Planet Pumpkin are offered at one dollar. They only accept cash, and money can be exchanged for a ticket in the ticket booth, which is located in the middle of the park. With free admission and free parking, Planet Pumpkin is hustling and bustling from open to close.

The staff at Planet Pumpkin offers a warm and friendly feeling. From the start the crew puts forward their biggest smiles and most positive attitudes. The bright lights and soothing music give off a warm and cozy sensation throughout the patch.

Third year worker at Planet Pumpkin amusement area , Britney looks forward to a seeing all the kids having a good time when it comes to the fall season. She feels that they are located in the perfect area of Fresno. Britney also likes to run the rides and make sure that everyone has a good time.

“This is my third year working here at Planet Pumpkin,” Britney said. “I like seeing all the kids have a good time here. Planet Pumpkin is also located in the perfect area of Fresno, so everyone can appreciate it. I really love working here, and making sure everyone has a good safe time.”

The patch is situated like a pumpkin patch on one side, and an amusement park, carnival on the other. On the pumpkin patch side they sell pumpkins, squash, and decorative items for homes. They also have various vendors, and face painting. The other side is a different story, on the amusement park side, there are many rides, carnival games, and food vendors. Rides ranging from a ferris wheel to a magic carpet ride. That side of the park also offers carnival games where you can earn prizes, and the typical fair food like corn dogs, nachos and hotdogs.

Planet Pumpkin is located, 640 E. Nees Avenue, Fresno, CA 93720. The Park is open, Oct. 1-31.
