[/media-credit] Leadership students (left to right) Erin Wilson, ’18, Roman Endicott, ’18, Hannah Nale, ’17, and Trevor Tevino, ’17, sell newspapers for Kids Day, March 7.

Fresno Christian high school leadership and Feather staff sell newspapers for the 30th annual Kids Day, March 7. Schools and community volunteers in Central Valley gather together and sell newspapers to annually raise money for  Valley Children’s Hospital

Arriving at 4 a.m., leadership students took over the corner of Alluvial and Cedar followed by the Feather staff at the corner of Alluvial and Maple at 5 a.m. Students continued to sell papers till about 9 a.m. According to Jim Boren, executive editor of The Fresno Bee, it is etsimated that between 6,000-7,000 volunteers took part in Kids Day.

Over the last 29 years, volunteers have raised more than $8 million since the first edition in 1988. Valley Children’s Hospital continues to see more and more patients each year, going from 6,000 in 1998 to nearly 13,000 in 2016. The Madera-based hospital is a Level II trauma designation and the only pediatric trauma center in Central California.

Please return to The Feather Online later this week for a recap and review of Fresno Christian’s involvement on Kids Day.
