As the excitement of the football season ends, the varsity cheerleaders have come out from behind the scenes as they prepare for their next competition.

The Fellowship of Christian Cheerleaders Cheer Competition takes place on Dec. 3 at Azusa Pacific University. The varsity team will cheer for first on Saturdsay and attempt to beat out other teams of various calibers.

?I think the girls have their routine prepared,? Katie Mendenhall, cheer coach, said, ?but they are against a lot of tough Christian schools. I am hoping that they will get in the top five.?

Most girls are ready to compete against these larger schools. However, a recent accident may set them back. One girl on the squad, Danielle Chidester, ?07, injured her ankle at lunch on Dec. 1.

?The girls are really mad at me for hurting myself,? Chidester said. ?Actually, I am still going to try and cheer on Saturday.?

The junior varsity cheerleaders are rooting for the varsity girls, no matter what kind of accidents may have occurred.

?I think they can still do really well,? Brianna Stobbe, ?09, said. ?They have a lot of commitment between them.?
