Perception boosts NF to new success

Third studio album pushes artist to Billboard Top 10

Following the massive success of his previous album, “Therapy Session,” NF released his third studio album titled “Perception.” His stage name “NF” simply comes from his initials, Nate Feuerstein.

According to Billboard, Perception has recently reached number one on the Top 200. His last album peaked at 62. This is NF’s first top 10 album.

The album cover displays a visual of NF trapped in a prison cell with the keys in his hand and features a total of 16 songs

His motto is “Real Music.” That is simply saying he is the only one in the industry with authentic lyrics. He is open about heavy topics, something lacking in music.

People want to feel good when they listen to music. Unfortunately, his music will not leave you feeling happy. All of his emotions are funneled into each track, and each song is extremely personal. NF raps very frequently about his rough upbringing. He has struggled with depression and his mother passed away of a drug overdose in 2009.

The album opens with the long-awaited Intro III. Ever since his album Mansion, he has started each album with an intro. The two previous intros have been some of his most loved songs.

Green Lights is one of the most motivating songs. The high tempo and rapid lyrics make it an essential to anyone’s work out playlist.

Destiny is another great song in my opinion. He unleashes a lot of anger over a hefty beat filled with a large bell and an ominous choir.

One of my favorite beats appears on the song You’re Special. It has a powerful 808 kick as well as a very loud hi-hat that gives a very nice bounce to the song. I really love how the beat fades, which mixes well with the distorted vocal samples.

The album ends on a high note, with one of my favorite songs, Outro. He communicates a whopping 661 words in only three and a half minutes. In the background you can hear a spine-chilling choir that adds to the large presence of this track.

One thing I would change about the album is the absence of an orchestra. In his previous work, he has incorporated massive string sections to add to his beat. These are present in the album, however, it would have made this album a lot more unique.

NF released two music videos to tie in with the project. Outro has one as well as Green Lights. The music videos are both very violent and aggressive. The Green Lights music video shows a robbery and is probably not suitable for all ages.

Overall, I loved this project. I really hope this album gains him a lot of respect in the rap community, as well as from all genres.

I agree. NF is known for his unique use of orchestras and I wish he did incorporate more of those. It makes him stand out more from other artists. Nevertheless, I loved NF’s new album and have no complaints. #RealMusic
