Staff seeks to gain revenue through ads
The Feather Online is now offering advertising opportunities for interested companies. The Feather receives an average of 5,600 views a month, including 3,400 unique visitors.

Despite Fresno Christian’s relatively small campus size and student population, The Feather Online was named one of the best high school publications in the nation, winning Columbia Scholastic Press Association’s (CSPA) Gold Crown at Columbia University in New York City. The Feather has won the Gold Crown six times in the last seven years, including last March (of 2017).
The National Scholastic Press Association’s (NSPA) prestigious Pacemaker award, seen as the high school equivalent of a Pulitzer Prize, has also been awarded to The Feather six times since 2006, most recently in 2016. Every high school paper in the United States and Canada is eligible for both the CSPA and NSPA awards.
Advisor Greg Stobbe hopes businesses see the potential in advertising to high school students.
“The companies that we are going to try and reach for would be companies that have to do with teens,” Stobbe said. “We are looking for companies who are going to want to show teens what they do and what they have to offer. We want to offer them the opportunity to have brand recognition, and of course to make a donation to help not only the Feather staff grow, but also the gear that we have and opportunities for students to invest back in their community.”
The Feather Online is offering two different layouts for advertisement. The first option is a 250×250 px carousel ad that is seen inside every article. This ad space costs $99 a month, $349 a semester (18 weeks) or $699 a year.
The second option is a 750×100 px front page feature banner ad that costs $999 a semester. All ads will link directly to the company website.

Proceeds raised from advertisements go towards new gear and equipment for Feather staffers. Stobbe watches staff members invest in their community and believes funds will be properly used.
“The Feather is the heart and the soul of campus news,” Stobbe said. “If something is happening on campus it’s going to be either published before, during or after. We want to let our community know that we are here as a viable source, and we want businesses to know about that and to promote not only Fresno Christian, but The Feather kids and what we are doing here in this city.”
