Dear editor:

Mr. (Lonnie) Godfrey has been an inspiration to students for decades. He was my math teacher for three years Toccoa Falls Academy. I have tried to follow in his footsteps, but his shoes are pretty hard to fill, although I have perfected the skill of catching students with gum! AKA the Gum Nazi.

I teach Math at Durhamn Middle School in Acworth, Ga. This summer my husband and I visited the Godfrey’s home while in California. Mr. Godfrey was selected “The Star Teacher of the County” by my husband, The Star Student of Stephen’s County in 1971.
