Responsibility grows with age

Birthdays seem to be different every year due to a change in focus. As a child, presents seem to be top priority while teenagers yearn to get older as soon as possible and adults seem to dread an additional year.

The milestone years seem to be 13, 15, 16, 18 and 21 for most. These years are exciting for students for various reasons. But the most popular is getting older.

?Your 13th birthday is considered to be a big moment in your life because you are now a teenager,? Kally Batesole, ?09, said. ?When you?re a teen you?re treated with more responsibilities and not treated as a little kid any more.?

To many, turning 13 is considered a highlight due to added responsibilities and the increased expectation from parents and teachers.

?My 13th birthday was a lot of fun,? Batesole said. ?I started getting more valuable things rather than the little toys I got as a kid.?
