As Christmas comes around and the year comes to a close, many readers are already looking forward to 2018. A new year brings so many new possibilities and with possibilities, new books.
January 2018
The Forgotten Book by Mecthild Gläser
In this adventure/fantasy, main character Emma discovers a book similar to Tom Riddle’s diary in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets; a book in which everything she writes comes true. Others want the book that’s been discovered and will stop at nothing to get it. I’m really excited about this novel, mainly because it reminds me of Inkheart. Books that are written for book lovers make me incredibly excited and happy. According to Amazon, this book will be released January second, making it one of the very first new books of the year.
February 2018
In this sci-fi/fantasy novel, main character Nikki has special skills: in a world of black and white, Nikki sees colors, which transform her worldview. And after taking on one of LA’s most powerful families, she is an adventurer that no one can stop. This book is the third in a series titled Nikki Kill, and it seems like a fun play on the typical dystopian trilogy. The main character has synesthesia, another subject that I’ve always found fascinating and something I want to play within my own writing. This novel is set to release on February 13, 2018.
March 2018
In Search of Us by Ava Dellaira
Main characters Marilyn and Angie are a mother-daughter duo who discover about themselves through the history of Angie’s father and family, and the way her mother Marilyn fell in love with him. The novel follows Angie’s journey to discover herself and her father, and the novel follows both the mother and daughter. Another book which is playing with different ideas and unique plots! I personally have never seen a book take on a mother-daughter relationship that’s healthy in this way, and I look forward to its publication on March 6, 2018.
A quick side note: Disney’s making an adaption of the classic novel A Wrinkle in Time, including actors like Chris Pine, Mindy Kaling, and Reese Witherspoon. A Wrinkle in Time has been done many times before, but Disney making the movie will be able to do a wonderful job with this amazing novel.
As you can tell, even within the first three months of 2018, there is a large variety of books to look forward to. I am so excited for these few books already, and I’ll be spending time reading them next year for sure.
For my last blog post, read Turtles All The Way Down review.
