Gateway Ice Center to host FC event

Kicking of the second semester, the high school leadership class has organized an ice skating event at Gateway Ice Center, Jan. 27. Students will socialize and participate in ice skating from 10 p.m. – 12 a.m., and late night broom-hockey from 12 a.m. to 1:30 am. Tickets, set at $15, are available to be purchased from Robert Foshee.

[/media-credit] For $15, students participate in ice skating from 10 p.m. – 12 a.m. and a late night broom hockey tournament from 12 a.m. – 1:30 a.m., Jan 27.

One of the leadership class advisors, Aubri Foster, explains the activities students will have the opportunity to participate in.

“From 10 – midnight it will be free skating and then from midnight – 1:30 it will a broom hockey tournament,” Foster said. “The total cost is $15 and that covers equipment and the fee to skate. The students will need to find rides just like any other off-campus school event ”

The broom hockey tournament portion allows students to compete in a unique setting against their classmates. Freshman Brayden Iest has experience with broom hockey before and is thrilled to share the experience with his friends.

“I’ve played broom hockey before with my youth group and I’m excited that the school is setting this up,” Iest said. “I like sliding around and trying to steal the ball from people. I think it will be a good opportunity to spend some time with my friends.”

Sophomore Bryce Barker speaks about how the event runs too far into the evening for him for him to attend.

“I probably won’t go to the ice skating event because it goes way too late and I am not a big fan of ice skating. However, I do think it is pretty exciting that our school is starting to do different things outside of the campus and are willing to go late.”

Students are encouraged to attend for the price of $15 from 10 p.m. – 1:30 a.m., Jan 27. Contact Robert Foshee or Aubri Foster for more information
