The next big social event on campus gives girls a turn to have power. With Sadie Hawkins scheduled for April 1, a new freedom to take control comes with the responsibility to pay for tickets and buy traditional matching outfits.
Many females have made elaborate plans to ask their desired guy friends to Sadies before another girl snags him. The apparent imbalance in the guy to girl ratio on campus makes the fight for a fun date intense.
With Sadie Hawkins only five days away, the rush to find a date seems to be driving several girls to decision-making extremes. But for Kim Weis, ?07, finding a date is as easy as choosing door numbers 1, 2 or 3 in a second installment of Win a Date on March 28.
Previously, the guys on campus held the power to make or break a girl?s highly valued formal night.
During Night of the Stars, Corey Maxey, ?06, participated in the Win a Date game to score free tickets. He had to ask three mystery girls with disguised voices random questions so he could make an informed decision.
?It was pretty nerve racking,? Maxey said. ?It was fun though because I knew I would get a date either way, and I didn?t have to pay for anything.?
Patterned after Maxey?s date experience, Weis? date show will award the chosen junior with not only a date, but also duo shirts and free tickets to the annual Sadies event.
One lucky bachelor will win a date with Weis at the special assembly chapel on March 28.
Later in the week, Sadies will include a scavenger hunt at the zoo as well as other exotically entertaining activities. In honor of the wild theme, the mystery dating game will be fashioned after, the famous jungle couple Tarzan and Jane.
The mystery contestants will be disguised as different wild animals and will be shown only as silhouettes behind a partition. Weiss will have to make a decision simply by asking questions to get to know her prospective date.
