Dear Editor:
After reading Taylor Torrence’s April 3 article, “From Russia with Love”, I have garnered a new respect for Ann Hawkins.
It is hard to imagine having such a different childhood from the one I am still having. After contemplation, I find myself feeling pampered.
During her entire experience in Russia and Ohio, my biggest move was from Santa Barbara to Fresno, and I have no recollection of it. My life in the Golden State has been just that, golden.
Ann, however, has gone through the many pains that accompany moving away from friends and into a completely different society. Also, she had not tasted ice cream until she was six.
She has one thing that I am jealous about, though. She lived with snow for around nine years of her life; I have seen it twice in mine.
