The actress steps up to the microphone with a long sparkling golden gown and her hair in a fine curled and pinned-up ‘do. Her counterpart comes to her side dressed in a blue blazer that accentuates his bold confidence.
The two let out a beautiful sound full of pure harmony that sends chills down the audience?s spines. The votes come pouring in. This scene describes Fox?s new reality show Celebrity Duets.
Celebrity Duets is an American Idol-like reality contest where eight celebrities are paired with music legends to compete for a $100,000 cash prize, donated to the charity of their choice. Wayne Brady hosts the show.
Celebrities include: Alfonso Ribiero, Lucy Lawless, Carly Patterson, Jai Rodriguez, Hal Sparks, and Lea Thompson. The Celebrities are paired with music legends such as Michael Bolton, Brian McKnight, Gladys Knight, Patti Labelle and others.
Each week the celebrities are paired with a different artist. The show is set up to be like an American Idol for celebrities and each week someone is voted off by the viewers. There are also three judges at the performance every week. The panel includes: Marie Osmond, Little Richard and David Foster.
The first celebrity to perform, in the two- hour premiere, was Xena the Warrior princess? Lucy Lawless. The actress was paired with vocal icon Michael Bolton. The judges were pleased with the performance and gave Lawless words of praise for her surprising vocal ability.
As celebrities sang in duets throughout the night the judges were ultimately looking for the celebrity that would be sent home first. Pro WWE wrestler Chris Jericho was the first celebrity to be sent home by the judges.
Every week there will be one-hour performance show on Thursday night at 9 PM followed by a one-hour results show Friday night at 9 PM. In the results show the celebrity with the lowest amount of votes from the viewers will be kicked off the show.
Although Celebrity Duets is supposed to be like American Idol, the chance of such success is doubtful. The charm of shows such as Fox?s American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance is that the average American can achieve fame. Celebrity Duets lacks such charm because of course celebrities already have fame, and are far from average.
If the show had everyday people paired with celebrities the ?American Idol? charm would be present and the show might have great success. In the eyes of a viewer, celebrities singing with celebrities might take the real out of reality show.

Spiritual Emphasis Week is amazing. At my old school (Modesto Christian) it was consistently my favorite time of year. And I’m SO glad Spiritual Emphasis Week has been brought to Fresno Christian.
I mean seriously? What’s better than a week constructed specifically for spiritual growth? Nothing at all.
Oh and Bodi…I’m in the shadows. Blending in like a chameleon in the night.

I enjoyed the chapel lead by the Northpark worship team as part of spiritual emphasis week. It was fun to watch my friends play and worship from the crowd instead of being on stage like I normally am!
Spiritual emphasis week has been great so far but by no means does it have to end on Friday! Every day and every week should be centered around our spirituality for Christ!
