[/media-credit] The 10,640 pound, 64 foot long helicopters cruise at speeds of 170 mph and can transport 11 troops for over 350 miles.

Flown by LTC Shiloh Briggs (20 years of service) and CPT Joe Gentry (14 years of service) the UH-60L Blackhawk lands on the FC field in honor of Veterans Day, Nov. 9.

First landing at 8:45 am, K-12th grade students observed and interact with the aircraft while getting to know the pilots for two hours.

The UH-60L Blackhawk, UH (standing for utility helicopter), was built in 2000. This specific aircraft’s facility most recently assisted in the wildfires in California but is equipped to perform missions for flood, fire and earthquakes.

To learn more about the students’ experience, the pilots and the Blackhawk, check out the article on The Feather.
The following video highlights the student engagement with the helicopter and the pilots.
