Senior Kaylie Clem leaps into rain puddles with her polka dot rain boots, Nov. 29.

Due to record breaking wildfires this year, the rain helps wash away the smokey air as well as current fires in the mountain range. This year a total of 6,210 fires covered an acreage of 876,167 in California.

Clem shares her favorite part about the rainy season and the activities she enjoys on a rainy day.

“I absolutely love when it rains because it makes me feel like I want to wrap up in a blanket, drink hot cocoa and be all cozy,” Clem said. “My favorite part about when it rains is when your lying in bed and can hear the thudding sound of the rain hitting the roof. As the weather gets colder during rainy season it starts to feel more and more like Christmas and the holiday season.”

Being a fan of the rain boot style, Clem enjoys the opportunity to wear her boots and splash in puddles.

“Wearing rain boots is a huge bonus because I love rain boots. It is so fun to feel like a kid again and jump in puddles. There are so many aspects of the rainy season that I adore, wearing rain boots is defintiely a big one.”

Students around campus bring out their rain coats, boots, umbrellas and sweatshirts to prepare for the rainy week ahead.

California’s annual precipitation is 21.44 inches, ranking 40 from wettest to driest states in the United States. Although, the driest place in the U.S. is Death Valley, CA, where the average precipitation of rain is two inches a year.
