During block period, zoology students present their created Arthropod models to the class as the semester’s final, Dec. 12.

Zoology concludes the first semester with an Arthropod unit, after previously covering Porifera Cnidarian and Mollusca. Dr. Karen Walters, zoology teacher, assigned the class different arthropod species to create a model and presentation two week prior. Presentations could be either a power point or a poster.

The class of 14 covers Crustaceans, Insectas and Arachnidas. Species such as bees, butterflies, shrimp, lobster, hermit crab, sea spiders, horseshoe crabs and scorpions were among those covered by the class, along with several others.

Zoology fun fact: Did you know that horseshoe crabs have blue blood due to the copper abundance in proteins that carry oxygen through the body?
