Whether teens like to admit it or not, parental authority benefits students. The April 5 article, ìTeen sex prevented by parental involvement,î by Alysa Muzny, encourages adults to counsel and educate those younger than themselves on sexual issues.

Although I believe some parents go too far in establishing rules for their children, I do believe a balance of guidelines and student responsibility is essential for the development of a child or teen.

In some cases there is not enough parental involvement and the student is completely uneducated, not knowing the consequences of his/her actions. Adult guidance can help prevent teens from making choices that they will regret that regard sexual conduct.

As adults, teachers, parents and mentors, it is important to be aware of the struggles teens face daily. It is necessary for parents, ect. to be a part of the decisions that will affect teenís lives for many years.

As a teenager, I know how difficult dating can become. Growing up I had to learn from my own dating experiences rather than the education of my parents. My role models struggled with their own relationships and thus it was difficult for me to learn from them.
