Welcome back to the second semester!
Happy 2019 and welcome back to the second semester of the 2018-19 school year! I hope students, staff and their families enjoyed a restful break from the routine of school. Whether you have kept your New Year’s resolutions so far or not, a new year offers opportunities for fresh starts, and not just with the grade book.
While keeping resolutions can prove difficult, especially with a swamped schedule, they do not need to serve as drastic life changes. Drink more water, focus on smiling, spend less time looking at screens and occasionally change up your routine and habits. And if you are not already, consider becoming more involved in school activities.
There are some key dates to look out for in the second semester.
- Jan. 7 – School begins
- Feb. 2 – Ice Skating night
- Feb. 9 – Choir Valentine’s Day concert
- Feb. 26 – FCS Serve Day
- March 5 – Kids Day
- March 9 – FCS Auction
- March 30 – NOTS
- April 12 – PowderPuff
- April 15-22 – Easter Break
- May 10 – Bowling/trampoline night
- May 15-17 – Senior Trip
- May 23 – Graduation/End of school
Another way to support friends and classmates is by attending their athletic events. Boys and Girls basketball and soccer begin league play when school resumes and continue through early Feb. After that, spring sports begin and last through the end of the school year.
To the class of 2019,
Congrats! It’s our graduation year at last. While we may be tempted to take our foot off the pedal and coast into May, I urge you to stay connected and engaged in your classes and with your peers. At the end of these few shorts months, many of us will head our separate ways and we may not be all together as a class like this again. Let’s make the most of it.
