FAFSA deadline March 2

[/media-credit] Seniors, remember to finish FAFSA by the deadline, March 2.

Attention all seniors, Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) deadline is March 2.

In order to qualify for Cal Grant students need to fill out FAFSA and the Cal Grant GPA verification form. These applications opened, Oct. 1, and close this week, March 2.

The forms should be renued every year in order to recieve any scholarship and financial aid for the following college fall semester.

FAFSA provides a way to receive financial aid through the government such as federal Pell Grants and opportunities to earn scholarships from colleges. It can be completed online or on FAFSA paper.

FC Academic advisor Evangelina Tello shares her opinion on the importance of students applying for FAFSA.

“I enourage students to apply for FAFSA since this a great opportunity to see if you are eligable in receiving any financial aid,” Tello said. “Students should know FAFSA is not a one time thing. Every year you are enrolled in a college, you must apply every year.”

If eligable, Cal Grants provide money towards college tuition. The three types of Cal Grants (A,B and C) are based on GPA, FAFSA or CADAA (California Dream Act Application), type of college attending and if you are a high school student. To find more about requirements earning Cal Grant, visit: Cal Grants – California Student Aid Commission.

To learn more about qualifications required for colleges, contact Tello at [email protected] or call toll free 800.433.3243 for assistance from the FAFSA processor.

Another important deadline seniors should be on the lookout for is College Decision Day, May 1! This is when many seniors commit and decide on the college they will attend in the fall.
