Kids Day 2019

Volunteers around the Central Valley rise early in the morning to participate in the 32nd annual Kids Day, to benefit Valley Children’s Healthcare, March 5.

Since 1988, Valley Children’s has partnered with high schools across Fresno and Clovis, ABC30 and The Fresno Bee. The purpose is raising money to sell special addition Fresno Bee newspapers for $1 each, but more donations are encouraged.

The paper highlights 2019 Kids Day ambassador Bruce and the Valley Children’s hospital and over 8,000 community volunteers peddled paper throughout the San Joaquin Valley this year.

Feather staffers and FC student leadership gathered between 3:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. to do their part selling papers on Cedar/Alluvial and Maple/Alluvial. To stay active and awake, they sang and danced to music while snacking on donuts and coffee.

This year, 60 Fresno Christian students sold 1,000 newspapers and raised a total of $2,181 to donate to Valley Children’s Healthcare. This is slightly less than last year’s total of $2,500.

The event has fundraised approximately $9.2 million since the 1988 and hope to raise $625,000 this year according to The Fresno Bee and ABC30. The first counts that came in is a combined total of $142,327, while the final total will be known in a few days, while the hospital continues counting donations.

You can still donate by texting “GEORGE” to 80077 to make a $10 donation and donate from the Valley Children’s website.
